On 27 February, 27 March, 25 April and 8 May 2025, four editions of the laser prostatic enucleation course were held at the HM Madrid Río Hospital, a minimally invasive surgical technique that is becoming increasingly widespread for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). These training sessions brought together a total of 40 urologists from different parts of Spain, in an intensive, practical and highly specialised learning environment.
The courses were led by doctors Javier Romero-Otero, Fernando Lista Mateos and Diego Torres Pérez, leaders in urology and members of ROC Clinic and HM Hospitals, who shared their extensive clinical and surgical experience with the attendees. In addition, the organization was carried out by Urology 3D, ROC Clinic and the HM Hospitals Research Foundation, with the support of Casen Recordati as a sponsor.
A comprehensive training format: theory and practice with cutting-edge technology
Each course was structured in two complementary parts. First, a theoretical session was offered in which the doctors addressed the anatomical foundations, clinical indications, advantages and challenges of the laser prostatic enucleation technique. This part allowed attendees to update their knowledge and resolve doubts directly with experts in the field.

Subsequently, a practical “Hands-on” session was held, in which participants were able to apply what they learned using the hyperrealistic prostate models developed and marketed by Urology 3D. These models, specifically designed to simulate the texture, strength and behavior of prostate tissue during enucleation, represent a revolutionary tool for surgical training.

Hyper-realistic, vegan and sustainable models: a new era in medical simulation
One of the highlights of these courses was the possibility of practicing the surgical technique in a completely safe environment, without risk to patients and with an extremely realistic tactile and visual experience. Urology 3D models are made from 100% vegan materials, which not only ensures an ethical alternative to animal or cadaveric models, but also significantly reduces the environmental impact of medical training.

Thanks to this technology, attendees were able to directly experience the sensations of laser enucleation of the prostate, improving their dexterity, precision and confidence before facing real cases. This practical approach is key to shortening the learning curve and improving long-term clinical outcomes.
